Galaxy Angel |
This squad of Galaxy cuties, (The Angel Brigade), is supposed to be looking for old advanced technology . . . "Lost Technology" as it's called, trouble is no one really seems to know what it is. Various examples of "Lost Technology" keep popping up as the series progresses, in numerous incarnations such as a talking thermonuclear device that doesn't want to die in it's own explosion, a planet destroying mouse that seems to wanna torment Forte and a dietary space station that wont let you leave until you reach your ideal weight. In-between missions looking for the "Lost Technology" they sometimes get some seemingly, mundane assignments. Quite often these simple tasks end up being rather complicated, such as finding a multi-billion dollar cat, protecting a construction company CEO . . . searching for a bride . . . for his son, using "cosplay" to capture some kidnappers at a "fun park" and end up playing to win a bet in a game of "bikini baseball".
This show is pretty much for the whole family or at least the kids between 8 and 14. The episode are only about 12 to 15 minutes long so the story development is rather fast-paced, something you'll notice right away. I should have known that the target audience was younger as all the fan-service images in the show are on the rather "tame" side and very limited. Even the published fan-service images used in ads, anime magazines and fan-boy magazines are mostly swimsuit illustrations . . . in other words, Primarily Cute. {Not that there is anything wrong with that!} In fact starting with the second season Forte's and Ranpha's outfits are slightly more conservative, with Forte's generous cleavage being covered as well as Ranpha's. Also you'll notice that Ranpha's bare midriff is covered as well as the slits on the sides of her uniform's skirt aren't quite as far above her waist-line or show nearly as much skin. It is more of a family show anyway so . . . . .
The English language dub is actually reasonably good.
(Almost surprisingly good, as the English dub was done by The Ocean Group. {I liked to think they could do a great job if they'd "get into it".})
There are several Manga/graphic novels available in Japanese and in English. There are also several video/computer games as well as an art book and a cookbook. There are four seasons of the show.
PLUS Galaxy Angel Rune with more characters .
. .
(two "angel" brigades?) . . . and Milfeulle's little sister?
Unfortunately Bandai Visual USA, {not the same as Bandai Entertainment USA),
wants about $50 a disc for Rune so they can shove it up their collective butts.
I'll try to improve my information as time goes by . . . at least that's my plan.
